PLANTS USED IN RELIGIOUS COSMETICS

The use of cosmetics dates back 12,00 years ago, when the properties of essential oil were discovered in ancient Egypt. Since then cosmetics have been integrated as an important part of religious rituals. Cosmetics used by both women and men.

  1. Aloe vera – this plant is known for its healing properties and is often used in the pharmaceutical industries, but it can often be found in several cosmetic products as well. Aloe vera leaves contains a sticky gel extracted from the outer layer of the leaves. Aleo vera contains more than 7 nutrients and 200 other ingredients including20 minerals, 1 amino acid and 12 vitamins due to its qualities Aloe vera juice and gel are successfully used in cosmetic products with anti-inflammatory soothing, toning, moisturizing as a skin protective effect face and body cream. Hair care product and natural deodorants.
  2. Rose – Roses are not only beautiful flowers available in large variety of species but they are also a valuable natural cosmetic ingradiets. Especially rose oil high in vitamin C. Roses are used in many fragrant and other product of high end brands and other products.
  3. Calendula – Calendula has the reputation of reducing redness and healing up the skin. More and more formers with smaller farms choose to cultivate medicinal plants. Calendula has an important demand in the beauty industry with these plants.
  4. Lavender – Lavender especially lavender oil is used to moisture skin aside of having a pleasant smell suitable for many scented products such as perfumes, bath and body care products lavender also has good antiseptic properties.
  5. Jojoba – Jojoba is used as ingredient in face creams because the oil extracted from the plant has similar properties to the sebum secreted by human skin. It also improves skin elasticity and prevents skin dehydration making it perfect for sensitive or very dry skin.
  6. Tea tree – tea tree is one of the main ingradient used in cosmetic products aimed to fight against acne and to treat acne prone skin. It is considered substances that are potentially skin irritating.
  7. Geranium- Geranium in not only a popular decorative plant but also a key igradient in various cosmetic products used as oil geranium oil has cleansing and tonic properties. Being helpful for those who have to deal with oil skin, acne and eczema.
  8. Basil – Basil is used as an herb as a medicinal plant but also as a cosmetics ingredient. It is used mainly in acne treatments. Hair care products, perfumes and several cream and body care products. The sweet linanool basil is used extensively to personal care products. While other varieties of basil are used for medicinal products and in food and beverage industries.
